My name is Brian Trent, and welcome to my digital home.

I am a novelist, screenwriter, poet, actor, and freethinker who supports both imagination and rationalism. I am an advocate for film and the written word and possibility.

Come visit my Facebook page here.

As a novelist, I write in the genres of historical fiction and science-fiction. Kind of strange? I argue that it’s all on the same time-line, and in fact my novels of the future are imbued with a historical sensibility.

As a screenwriter and film buff, I am deeply interested in the visual art of storytelling. I study film, books, and even games… storytelling used to be confined to a cave wall, and now it finds multiple vectors for expression. And we ain’t done: Art will continue to grow as our society edges forward to that shimmering Uncertainty Principle that is the future.

I am also an actor and voice actor; I have recorded several of my shorter works and the occasional chapter of my latest works. Please drop by my Works Page.

Ancient Mariner

I am a dedicated world traveler, a haunt of libraries and ruins, and a sailor on tomorrow’s seas. I work on independent films and collaborate with a circle of devoted friends and talented artists. Most of all, though, I am interested in the realities of the world and in its possibilities. Ideas. Characters. Times and Places. An open-ended train ticket to an exotic unending landscape.

My interests, like yours, are not exclusive to a single genre.  It doesn’t always fit into neat marketing holes. A toddler learns pattern recognition by fitting plastic geometries into place – square, circle, triangle. But let’s not forget there are various polyhedrons which didn’t make it into the kindergarten kit.

Therefore, I welcome you to my humble site. Look around, stay awhile, and drop a message if you like.

I just finished “Remembering Hypatia: A Novel of Ancient Egypt”. I was truly moved. Thanks for the great work and keep it up. I will be reading more of your writing.
